who I am
My name is Marie Luise Bestandig, born in Germany in a small town typical of Lower Saxony.
To try to understand how I got to date with my passion for art, we need to go back to my grandfather as a painter.
I have very vivid memories of when I wanted to portray my father's face.
Perhaps it was the moment that the magical attraction for painting was born.
Then, of course, also the influence of my father who was a collector and an excellent art expert.
I still have my first drawings and it makes me smile when I look at them.
In 1986 the Italian adventure began in the magnificent Alghero, a well-known seaside city.
The years passed but the time for "the Art of Painting" never existed.
But the passion never faded.
And 2018 was a very special year for me.
The illness came and the trip to Rome, to have me operated on and treated, for the duration of six months ..
It was thanks to the confidence in myself and my recovery that I was able to get through those very bad times.
Rome, Rome, city of art, what can I say, every moment between one treatment and another I discovered and breathed the beauty of the "eternal city".
The immense joy and emotion in admiring the works of small and great artists have been for me the best medicine to heal.
And it's time to go home to Alghero and start dreaming again but this time not only .......
And here I am.
From that moment on, I took back my old brushes and started composing my first drawing in watercolor and pencil.
It seemed like a liberation!
Later I used oil paints and now I use acrylic on canvas.
I am determined to continue. For now I would like to continue with the abstract technique, but it does not mean that it is my final destination. The future will bring the answer.
I made my first private exhibition in 2020 then, later, in 2021 in my beloved Alghero.
